Hi everyone! My name is Rose and my husband Jeff and I are taking a cruise in February. We are both in our late fifties. We are cruising with some friends and family on Carnival Paradise from Tampa to Cozumel.
I had a bad experience with Carnival back in 2012 so I’m not too thrilled this is the cruise line they chose, but it was a good price so I am open to second chances.
I am a big researcher when it comes to traveling and vacations, so if anyone has info about this cruise I’m all ears!
I have taken several cruises on Norwegian for The Walking Dead Cruise they had been hosting, as well as Royal Caribbean. I am curious to see how Carnival will compare. This looks like a smaller ship than I’m used to. Also, I usually book balcony but that wasn’t in the budget so we did Oceanview class E (E107 is what we chose).
I would love to hear all good and bad. It’s non refundable because I booked a casino package with free drinks while gambling and got an on board credit. Anyone have info on that either? I’m curious how the “free drinks” will work.
Looking forward to talking cruising! Have a great day everyone!

Hi Rose! I was on the Paradise last Thanksgiving. I have taken several cruises (mostly carnival but also 1 disney and 1 royal caribbean). If you play, you drink...I think there is an amount of time you must play to "earn" the initial drinks and a fifteen minute window between drink order times.

I have cruised the Dream, the Sensation, Elation, Sunshine, Ecstasy, and Paradise. Of them all, I loved the Dream best. Paradise was probably my least favorite because of the food. It was just not that great in any of the restaurants aboard the ship. I still had a great time though! I went with terrific people (family and friends) and we enjoyed each other thoroughly! We went to all the shows and either laughed because it was great or because it was not so great! I think that you and Jeff will enjoy yourselves just because you are together.

I hope this helped in some way. Essentially, my fellow travelers helped to make my experience on the Paradise a fun and memorable one! The ship was clean and there was plenty to do. the food ****ed though!

Take care!
Kanisa

Thank you for your reply. Yes it does help!
My free drinks in the casino are a part of a package I got. So that’s nice! I was just wondering how that worked. I’m suppose to check in with the players club once on board. I know on past cruises I played and then earned the free drinks.
We just made reservations for the Chefs table for a few of us and I’ve heard great things about that. Have you ever tried that? I don’t normally cruise on carnival because of a past bad experience but I’m giving them another chance because that’s what our group chose. Hopefully this will be more pleasant. We usually get balcony but they were so expensive we are doing Oceanview. Would be nice to get an upgrade lol. But I doubt that will happen. Did you ever partake in the brunch on sea day in the Elation dining room? I’ve seen videos on YouTube and it looked tasty. I prefer to sit down than go thru the buffet.
Thank you again! Our group is fun so it should be a good time either way. If not I’ll be in the casino lol

Upgrade your room, it will be one small thing that makes your Carnival cruise more bearable.
